Photo of the Day: Coconut Grove Playhouse

The historic Coconut Grove Playhouse was inaugurated in 1927 as a movie theater, housing the largest Wurlitzer organ in the country. It was also the second movie theater on the Florida east coast to provide air conditioned comfort to its patrons. In the 1950s it was converted to a theater for live performances, and it remained that way until its eventual closing in 2006.
