Photo of the Day: Miami River and Biscayne Bay
The Miami River flows from the terminus of the Miami Canal near the Miami International Airport to Biscayne Bay. This less than 6 miles long river is considered one of the shortest working rivers in the United States, but has long been used for recreational watercrafts as well as small cargo ships destined for the Bahamas and other Caribbean islands. In recent years, there has been a move to clean up and improve the river’s overall condition. The renewed interest in improving and developing areas along the river is starting to attract new shops, restaurants, and residences close to the banks of the Miami River, which may very well be the next real estate frenzy in Miami.
