Photo of the Day: Pier in Black & White

This pier is located in Islamorada, in the Florida Keys. I felt the cloudy sky, along with the light and dark pillars on both sides of the pier, gave it a great setting for this black & white image (originally shot in color, and converted to b&w in post-processing.)

Photo of the Day: Islamorada, Florida Keys

Islamorada in the Florida Keys is located at approximately 1.5 hour drive from Miami. If you’re looking for a great place to relax and unwind, Islamorada will most definitely do the trick.

I make it a point to visit several times during year, just to reset my brain.

Reservations are recommended, and the balcony tables on the second floor provide the best views of the sunset. Try their amazing key lime pie - you won't be disappointed.

Photo of the Day: Afternoon in the Florida Keys

The Overseas Highway stretches 113 miles and 42 bridges connect the Florida Keys to the US mainland. The Atlantic Ocean lies on one side of the highway, and the Florida Bay and the Gulf of Mexico on the other. Visitors to the Keys have an opportunity to see breathtaking sunrises over the Atlantic Ocean, and equally amazing sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico, both in the same day.

Photo of the Day: Florida Keys

Railroad tycoon, Henry Flagler, successfully connected Key West and the rest of the Florida Keys with the U.S. mainland in January 1912. This made it possible for visitors (mostly wealthy northerners) to reach the relaxing and secluded warm-weather vacation spots offered by the Keys.
