Photo of the Day: Tree, Bike, Wall
I was sitting at a local pub in Del Rey Beach (Florida) this
weekend, just enjoying the summer breeze and a light refreshing drink. The sidewalks
were alive with passersby, a few with their pets in leash, and the streets
played host to plenty of cars going to and fro and around town. I looked up
from my beer and across the street, and all of a sudden the stars seemed to have
aligned. For a brief moment, there was no traffic, no pedestrians, and no pets;
just a lonely bicycle by a tree in front of an amazingly colorful mural. Less than
a minute later the bike was gone and the streets and sidewalks resumed their
hustle and bustle existence.

Photo of the Day: Horse Racing at Gulfstream
Today, Saturday, May 17th, will be the 139th running of the
Preakness Stakes in Baltimore, Maryland. This will be the second leg of the US
Triple Crown Series, followed by the Belmont Stakes on June 7th.
In 1973, Secretariat, considered by many to be the greatest
thoroughbred in horse racing history, won the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and
the Belmont Stakes, setting new race time records in each of the three races –
records that still stand today.

Photo of the Day: Horse Racing Jockey
Horse Racing jockeys are self employed, and earn around $45,000 a year. However, just like all sports, the better you are, the better the earnings. Some of the best jockeys will actually take home more than $2 million in prize money.

Photo of the Day: Horse Racing at Gulfstream Park
On May 3rd, a horse by the name of California Chrome won the Kentucky
derby in Louisville, Kentucky. This week California Chrome is headed to the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore for a chance to
win the second leg of the Triple Crown and the Woodlawn Vase trophy. Well, a
replica of the original Woodlawn Vase that is, because the real four-million
dollar Tiffany trophy actually resides in an Art Museum full time, and not even
the winner of the Preakness Stakes is allowed to take the real trophy home. How
do like that.
